Dealer Notes

To keep up with its athletic design and surprising agility, engineers at Volvo equipped the highly capable XC60 with facial refinements for 2016, including a color coordinated body. Standard City Safety and available pedestrian detection technologies can see risks ahead and automatically employ full-force braking to help reduce or avoid the impact of a collision. Powerful six-cylinder engines come turbocharged (supercharged in the T6, R-DESIGN, and Drive-E engines) delivering an instant response with the high torque that Volvo engines are known for. The new Drive-E engines reduce friction in key areas like the ball bearings and camshaft to boost efficiency. Not to mention improved fuel efficiency at 24/31 mpg â€" an impressive standout in the Crossover family. If being smart, swift, and powerful is not enough, there is the attractive body. Sculpted beauty that she is, the Volvo XC60 is built to deliver more than just bold, smooth style. It's designed to perform, inside and out, with effortless pleasure. With optional power tailgate to the three-split rear seats that fold flat, thoughtful, well-crafted design reveals itself at every turn. Select materials compliment modern Scandinavian design with plenty of interior selections. The perfect driving position is easily found as Volvo seats are adjustable, and the tilted center console favors the driver. The intuitive scroll selector on the steering wheel easily accesses Volvo-Sensus menus to personalize settings and take command. As expected, the XC60 is serious about safety with standard whiplash protection, airbags, lower anchors and tethers for car seats, and roll stability control.

  • Great Entry Into the Luxury Market

My wife and I traded in our 2007 Ford Edge for a 2016 XC60 R-Design Polestar. We looked at many other vehicles including the BMW x1, Volvo v60, Mercedes GLA, Lincoln MKC. To date, we could not be happier with our decision. The vehicle normally makes about 300 hp, but with the Polestar update it gets 325 HP and 350 lbft. It is much quicker than anything else we looked at. It is true that the infotainment system is dated, but in reality the number pad system is something you can use with your eyes on the road and is an interface most are used to and is simple to operate. The seats and leather are soft and comfortable and I have not noticed any quality issues yet. The car is no M or AMG, but it is exciting to see what Polestar can do with just a simple tune; I would imagine that their future with volvo is bright. The springs are a bit softer than I would like but firm enough to allow spirited driving without being crashy like the German competition. Based on reviews, I was worried about gas mileage but we are averaging around 22 with a lot of around town operation, on an engine that really hasn't been broken in yet, which is better than I expected. The luxury establishment (BMW, Mercedes) has its hold on peoples opinions but their entry levels are underpowered, loud and cheaply made once you really examine the interior quality. Out the door, the XC60 was significantly less than a used 2016 X1, despite being larger, faster and having more options. People really need to avert their eyes from the German manufacturers glare and look elsewhere. The domestics and lesser known european brands are making some hugely competitive vehicles.

I have aways wanted a Volvo and purchased the XC-60 AWD a year ago. Love, love, love it and recommend to anyone looking for an SUV. The safety especially in rainy weather is amazing. I feel so confident in heavy rains due to traction control, handling and weight of the SUV. During a recent ice/snow storm, yes in North Carolina, my husband drive it and there were no problems what so ever. We are getting ready to purchase a Volvo Sedan S60. Great on trips, love the confidence and reliability.
  • Solid, heavy, but expensive, avoidable repairs

This car drives great- firm handling (probably too stiff for some). Exceptionally safe, especially with all the packages. Very comfortable seats. It is not as quiet as I expected, due to the firm ride. The navigation system is awful, I never use it. But at 80k miles, a bearing in the differential failed along with a wheel hub bearing- can be repaired if you can find the right shop (actually a Land Rover specialist, shares the drivetrain with the LR2), but otherwise Volvo wants over 3k just for the part. Maybe if you could change the sealed for life differential fluid it wouldnt have been a problem. The blower is starting to go, thats at least a 600 repair because you have to take the whole dash off to get to it. I like how safe it is and how well it drives, but the efficiency and reliability are not great for what you paid for.
